The history behind hair pieces

Hair pieces are sometimes also called toupees. This name originated from a French word. It means top or tuft in French. In earlier times, rulers and monarchs would resort to hair pieces to cover their baldness. This is true for Julius Caesar. Thus the hair piece gradually gained popularity. Hair pieces have been in use since a long time and thus their exact history is practically untraceable. But we do know that rulers and monarchs were pivotal in popularizing the use of these false hair coverings. The desire to have a head full of hair is the same with everybody. This is true more in the case of males due to the genetic structures. Males have a greater tendency to lose hair and this further adds to the woes. Thus for them, a hair piece is probably the perfect solution.

Hair piece is usually the name given to wigs, toupees or any kind of false hair that is used for covering baldness. Also, as compared to other medical methods or treatments, hair pieces have a greater level of acceptance in the society.
